Wij vinden dialoog belangrijk. Door elkaar beter te begrijpen groeit het wederzijds respect.

Geloven in Samenleven is een initiatief van het Overlegorgaan van Joden, Christenen en Moslims. In dit overleg werken de volgende organisaties samen: het Nederlands Israëlitisch Kerkgenootschap, het Nederlands Verbond voor Progressief Jodendom, de Raad van Kerken in Nederland en het Contactorgaan Moslims en Overheid. Daarmee is Geloven in Samenleven verbonden met talloze synagogen, kerken en moskeeën.
Geloven in Samenleven bevordert en ondersteunt de lokale samenwerking tussen moskeeën, kerken en synagogen. Deze gebedshuizen hebben te maken met gezamenlijke uitdagingen: veiligheid, discriminatie en radicalisering. Onderlinge samenwerking vergroot de leefbaarheid. Tekenen van betrokkenheid doen dan goed.

Vroeger waren er in Nederland vooral christenen, joden en mensen die zich niet tot een geloof rekenden. Nu zijn er in Nederland, zeker in de steden, veel mensen die de islam aanhangen. Zij zijn óf van landen afkomstig zijn waar veel moslims wonen, óf in Nederland geboren in een familie waar de islam een belangrijke plaats heeft, óf moslim geworden. Onze buren zijn veranderd. In hoeverre sluiten wij ons af voor hen? En in hoeverre stellen wij ons open voor hen? Een gesprek kan leerzaam zijn!

Het archief van het tijdschrift BEGRIP MOSLIMS CHRISTENEN wil vanuit de Rooms Katholieke Kerk in Nederland en Vlaanderen en vanuit de Protestantse Kerk in Nederland meer onderling begrip kweken tussen moslims en christenen. Het roept gelovigen van beide godsdiensten op tot ontmoeting met respect en behoud van eigen identiteit.
